Why does Shiva worshipped in Shravan month ,the questions comes in every devotees of the ishwar shiva. The Shravan month is considered as one of the most auspicious and holy month of all 12 months . The month is filled with special scenic beauty and green color of the nature. The rains, rivers , ponds, fields are filled with water. the beautiful green natures gives us peace, calmness, devotional and spiritual and pious feelings.
REASONS OF WORSHIPPING SHIVA IN SHRAVAN:-
1 . The story arises from The Samudra Manthan. During the churning of the Samudra 14 things were obtained from the depth of the Samudra.
Example – Dhanwantari, Amrit kalash, Devi Lakshmi, Aerawat ,Kaamadhenu etc
But together with one of the most poisonous poison also obtained, that is Halahal.
The Halahal was obtained from the mouth of the Vasuki.
The Halahal had the power to destroy all the Earth.
2 . It was only Ishwar Shiva who could tolerate the Halahal.
Ishwar Shiva drank all the Halahal through which Shiva became nearly unconscious.
It is said that Devi Adishakti stopped that Halahal in the Neck region of Shiva. The neck became Blue and hence the name Shiva is called Nilkantha.
3 ..The churning/ Manthan of samudra was done in the Shravan masam.
4 .It is said that Indra rained continuously for one month to pacify Shiva.
Because of the rain, Shravan masam is also called Hariyali. All the plants , trees, Grains , Soil, Animals, Birds etc feels happy and Auspicious.
5 . It is also said that Devi sati immolated herself in the fire/ Yagya conducted by Prajapati Daksha.

COUNTER QUESTIONS OF WAY SHIVA WORSHIPPED IN SHRAVAN:-
1 . Shiva is supreme and Aadiyogi . He is Ishwar. He created the whole universe and Basuki ( snake). Then how can someone have the capability to harm / pain shiva?
2 . How can Shiva faint?
If Sudarshan chakra has no power to harm Shiva, then how can Halahal harm Shiva?
My opinion on why shiva worshipped in shravan are:
1 . According to science, If a human is bitten by a snake, the poison starts spreading into the whole body.
In that condition a person is not allowed to move, or to sleep on the ground in a straight position.
The person should keep his/ her body cool. Its body should be kept in wet condition or wet ground.
2 ..Therefore many people who died from snake bites are not cremated. They are blown into water on the bed of Banana stems because banana stems are also cool in nature.
3 . From a religious point of view, there is the process of Jalaabhishek of Shiva.
Because the cooling properties of water helps in spreading of the poison in the body.
4 . Bhang, Dhatura ,Belpatra, etc all are offered to Shiva because they are used as drugs( medicines) for the treatment of diseases. Snake poison is also in the pharmaceutical company for the manufacturing of medicines.
According to Ayurveda, Bhang , Dhatura, Belpatra etc all were used in treatments because ancient people had knowledge about it.
5 . Example – Belpatra is used in the treatment of Cholesterol problems.
We have forgotten about the Ayurveda and humans are only offering it to Shiva due to lack of knowledge about Ayurveda.
WORSHIPPING OF SHIVA
1 ..In Shravan masam, Shiva is worshipped in the form of Shivalingam. Shivalingam is(a Jyoti or poonj.
2 . Devotees fasts and offer Belpatra to the shiva
3 . Many devotees also start new puja and vrata such as SOLAH SOMBAR VRATA, Rudrabhishek, Kaal sharpdosh puja etc.
4 . They wished to bless Shiva in the form of happiness , prosperous, loyal partner , healthy and successful life.
Kawar yatra
Devotees do Kawar yatra in the auspicious month of Shravan to visit Babadham( Devghar).
But in their way, many devotees spread dirtiness, pollute rivers, and throw plastics and bottles
