PRAN PRATISHTHA OF IDOLS

PRAN PRATISHTHA OF IDOLS

Pran pratishtha of idols or statues of the gods are the process of making energies them. In other words the statues of the gods are made alive. The pran pratishtha is done in the vigrah roop of the god . The statues are called the vigrah roop of god.

The pran pratishtha is a very long and complicated process and a lot of mantras are chanted throughout this process.

In Sanatan religion, the pran pratishtha is a mandatory process. Without pran pratishtha, worshipping is not allowed.

MY INTENTION IS NOT TO HURT ANYONE’S SENTIMENTS. IF THERE ARE ANY MISTAKES MADE BY ME PLEASE CORRECT ME.

REASONS OF PRAN PRATISHTHA OF IDOLS

1 . The idols become energies

2 . It is thought that idols are live now

3 . Necessary for purity and holiness

4 . The idols are ready to be worshipped

5 . The idols can now be set up in the temple. Etc

DO IDOL WORSHIPPERS PERSIST IN OTHER RELIGIONS?

Not, directly idols worshipping is seen in other religions except Sanatan but indirectly there are idols worshipping in other religions also.

1 . Example –  Muslim go to Mecca and Medina. They throw the stone on the walls of Satan . They touch, feel, devote  and kiss Kaaba and revolve around it. This is also an indirect idol worship.

Muslims also go to majar and offer Chadars . Another form of idol worship.

2. .Example –  Every Churches has Christ statues and Marry statues. They also do prayers in front of his statues. So Christians are also an indirect worshipping of idols.

3 . Example –  Buddhism also has idols. Some statues of Gautam Buddha are in meditation pose , some are in preaching pose whereas some are in resting pose.

4 . Example – Jainism also has idols.

5 . Example – Sikhs do worship in the form of chaur in the darbaar of dhan dhan Shri gurugrantha sahib ji maharaj. These all are another form of indirect idol worship.

SOME QUESTIONS ARISE ON SANATAN PRAN PRATISHTHA OF IDOLS

1 . Why is there only pran pratishtha done in the idols of temples not in the idols of houses? Example – on the occasion of Lakshmi Puja , Ganesh puja ,we brought the idols of Lakshmi. We started puja normally from the day of Diwali. These idols are not pran pratishthit. But instead we worship.

2 . Why is there an immersion of house  idols every year? Example – we immerse or change the Lakshmi, Ganesha idols every year.

3 . On the occasion of Durga Puja, chhath Puja, Ganesh puja, Lakshmi Puja and Saraswati Puja, all these idols are submerged in the water after 9- 10 days?

4 .  How can the temple God be big and live? But  Durga and other idols are submerged?

Why do we worship idols which are not pran pratishthit?

WHY ARE IDOLS IN SANATAN?

The idols are the substitute of gods. Through Idols of dummy god we are able to connect us from our creator. We feel safe and feel he is watching our good  and bad deeds. People are sensitive towards their dummy gods.

Our mind and heart starts to visualise the gods in front of them.

Through Idols, the mindset and hearts become peaceful and tranquil.

COUNTER ANSWERS OF PRAN PRATISHTHA OF IDOLS

1 . Without Pran pratishtha we are worshipping idols of Lakshmi in the house. But instead we feel Energies  in front of her.

2 . Here all the sentiments of connection depend on our purity and devotion.

3 . Who performed pran pratishtha in the house pillar of hiranyakashyp through which Narshimha deva incarnated?

Instead he himself came to save Prahlada.

4 . Why can’t pran pratistha be done with dead bodies? Even for Tantrik puja, the dead bodies can’t be pran pratishtha.

5 . Who performed the pran pratishtha in Kedarnath Temple? Instead we are worshipping the Kedarnath.

6 . There are various Shakti peethas, Shiva jyotirlinga and other temples which are very old and ancient. Was all the statues pran pratishthit?

Who has done all these idols of Pran pratishtha?

7 . Today in the modern age, new temples are established and new idols are placed. Why only today’s new idols  need to be pran pratishtha?

Why didn’t centuries old temples need pran pratishtha?

8 . Has Meera done the pran pratistha in the idols of Shri Krishn in which she vanished with her whole body?

CONCLUSIONS/ MY OPINION ON THE PRAN PRATISHTHA OF IDOLS

If devotion is true or unselfish and unconditional love like a mother’s love towards her child , there is no need for pran pratishtha. The god will himself come.

Our supreme creator who created Trees, Rivers, Oceans, Mountains, Animals, Flowers, Rainbow,  Beautiful scenery world , Human beings . Here because of our negligence we are putting life in the god. He is infinite and we are finite. How Infinite comes in the Finite sources?

The idols are the replica of god, I do not think there is any need of pran pratishtha for idols. Because  through our pure love is enough to feel or contact the god.

Without pran pratishtha we can’t worship the vigrah roop of god then how Meerabai herself vanished with her whole body in the statue of Shri Krishna. Were the idols of Shri Krishn pran  pratishthit?
