ANIMAL EATING MEAT

Animal sacrifice for eating meat

Eating meat is strictly prohibited in the Vedas. No doubt meat is the richest source of protein ,iron ,zinc, and vitamin B12, but the nature has provided  us varieties of vegetables , fruits and foods which can nourish humans. Some people have tried to blame the Vedas and Upanishads for their own interests. They promoted sensuality and permission  of eating meat in the Vedas. Only preaching and readings can’t know the depth of our Vedas. The Vedas talk very deep ,internal, logical, non- violence, spirituality ,making a good human being and being brought towards the moksha. “Yamevaish vrinute ,Tain lamyah “ meaning  one who can understand and know the God ,whom the God has itself chosen. Here the meaning is everyone can’t understand the vedas and upanishads. The person who can understand it will have different understanding ,perseverance and thinking power and whom the god has chosen.

In The Bhagavad Gita Shri Krishna himself has depicted that there are two types of people.

1 . DAIVIYA / PURE SOUL / DIVINE:-

Qualities of Daiviya are:-

Brave , Donation, helpful, kindness, forgiveness, shame, sacrifices, peace, discipline, fast, mercy ,truth, non violence, do not be angry ,cleanliness, maintaining hygiene, patience/ perseverance, absence of sense of enmity, modesty, sweetness etc.

 2 . AASURI:-

They are the opposite of Daiviya humans.

These people only know , believe and understand the work. They only accept the birth by male and female. They never accept that there is someone who is supreme and the universe has originated from that divinity. These people will perforce for eating meat . They will also give nonsense arguments on eating meat. some people give logic on eating meat is that grains have also life, then why are you eating grains ,leaves ,plants, seeds ?

[The answer was my personal thought. ]

A single plants ,seeds ,leaves can grow into a new one but a single hair and skins have not the tendency to grow into a new animals. I am not against eating meat but personally i do not support eating meat , sacrificing and torturing animals and birds or any living .

NOW THE QUESTION ARISES, IS KILLING ANIMALS AND EATING MEATS IN THE NAME OF RELIGION GOOD?

It can be understood by an example:-

Once upon a time, a saint and other people were debating on the word “ Ajen yashtavyam “. Its meaning is that yagya/ havan should be done with grains.

“ Aja “ is the basic word in Ajen.

Meaning of Aja:- without born . No one knows  the birth or origin of The gains or seeds. No one knows the origin of grains and seeds.

But the other meaning of “Aja”  is Goat .

With this controversy they went to the king Vasu for judgement. But he gave the judgement in favour of other people.

Today lakhs of innocent animals are slaughtered in the name of religion such as goats, sheep, cows ,buffaloes , camels etc. How can a God become happy from the blood or innocent sacrifices of animals? Some people have promoted  slaughtering animals in the name of God , fulfilling wishes, and religions for their own interests. In festivals, there are pools of blood of innocent animals blown by humans. Is there any god who is going to eat that meat ? NO, the humans will eat meat in the form of prasad.

The dead body is cremated in fire in the form of last rites. The slaughtered animals and bird’s heads are burnt in the fire. Then how can a holy place of worship burn the dead head of the animals and birds?

Rigveda mentions:-  the Vedas say I don’t like that fire which burns the dead bodies and carries sins. But the fire is the form of panchmahabhut and has many uses therefore I established the fire in the universe. This fire knows other devtas therefore fire is considered as the “mouth of the God” . The best way of worshipping God is yagya/ havan. So,the grains which are offered to the devtas and gods go directly to them.

Yajurveda mentions:- There is prayer for saving Human children and saving the Animals from violent death.

The prayer is:-   Save the animals, do not kill cows, do not kill sheep, do not kill two -four legs animals, do not kill hoofed animals and do not kill any one”.

Rigveda also mentions:- behead that demon who is eating meat of cows, horses, humans and one who steals the milk of the cows.

One more question arises is the tied the pashu in the yagya such as ashvamegha yagya?

The answer is in” Shatapath -Brahman”. Shatapath Brahman says that one who cares for their public is “Pashuriti”. Meaning the power or the substances which nourishes the public is “pashu”.

The fire, The air, The sun is called as Pashu in the Vedas.

Atharvaveda (11/3/5)   – “Dhan is dhenu, Til is her calf”.

Atharvaveda ( 11/ 3/7). –  Rice is Ashwa , Rice is cow .The dark color of rice is meat and pale yellow color is blood.

Therefore different types of pashu are used in the yagya.

From these examples it can be said that Ashwah ,Aja ,Gau, Asthi( bone) etc all denote grains.

Bali also has other meanings like

(Rays and Tax/ Lagaan).

There are various names of medicinal plants which sounds like animals such as Rishabhkanda (brishabh), Granthiparn(swan) , marjar ( chita) , ashwagandha ( Ashwah) ,Aajmoda( Aja) , sarpgandha( sarp) , Apamarga( mayurak), Ajmoda( mayuri), varahikanda(varah) , guggul(mahish) ,kharparni( khar) , Golomi(gau) etc.
